Hi Erin, Thank you for reading my paper and contributing to the discussion. I knew very little (if anything) about expanding comfort zones and avoidance until I joined a specific programme in May 2000. These subjects (together with acceptance, greater assertiveness and so many others) were important aspects of the approach that I was encouraged to adopt. I also acquired new techniques that allowed me to overcome speech blocks and difficult words, and was afforded access to an international support network that involved unlimited attendance on further courses; local support groups; telephone and email interaction with other members of the programme worldwide; and voice-chat via the Internet.
