Hi Courtney, Thank you for taking the time to read my paper. The turning point for me occurred in 2000 when I joined a particular programme. In addition to providing me with techniques/tools to overcome speech blocks and 'difficult' words, its support network also brought me into unlimited contact with hundreds of other persons who stutter. I enjoyed so many opportunities to speak in front of groups, using my new techniques, including voluntary/pseudo stuttering. I felt so empowered in such a supportive environment and gained an immense amount of confidence and encouragement. We also accompanied each other out onto the streets to speak with total strangers. Greater openness aided self acceptance and desensitization. The program also facilited workshops/sessions in which we were able to challenge our self-limiting beliefs and self-image, by adopting new roles. I would have welcomed such opportunities in my younger days - particularly in group therapy, where there is an abundance of camaraderie and support. I wish you every success with your studies. Kindest regards Alan
