This is a very interesting article. Although I have taken psychology classes discussing locus of control, and am currently in a Fluency Disorders Class at NYU, I never connected them! My question is: What are the implications for clinical treatment if most people who stutter have this external locus of control? Specifically, is this why many people who stutter take in attitudes of the people around them regarding stuttering? and How does the external locus of control play a role in learned behaviors or secondary behaviors where the person who stutters unconciously feels that if they blink, interject words like "um" or move their hand a certain way it will make the stutter go away? This seems more like the behavior of someone with an internal locus of control.
