You are right. Most of the stutterers actually only show behavior of externals as a mimicry. They only look like externals, but deeply within they are ambitious and even more motivated than the others, i.e., they are internals. It is contradiction, yes. The things are not simple, unfortunately! What I am trying to say is: on social level stutterers most often behave as externals, because acting as internal, being stutterer, requires tremendous energy and braveness. But on intrapersonal level, most of the stutterers seem to be internals! In order to express their inner motivation for achievement and act as a internals on a social level as well, they have to undergo really painful and uneasy process of self growth, self-actualization, mental maturity and to gain profound emotional intelligence. So, yes, there are different layers on the subject!
