Hello! Thank you for asking – it is interesting question! I think stutterers who seek therapy are exactly those who have internal locus of control – one internal locus, intelligently used according to the objective circumstances – the interaction between the stuttering phenomena and the social system. Such PWS says: “Well, I have so much to achieve in this life, I want to leave a trace in this beautiful life. Let me start from changing myself, to explore my psyche and realize why I have this stuttering.” Seeking therapy is not weekness – on the contrary – it is pure expression of the achievement motivation in very intelligent (and emotionally intelligent) way! In the average case the therapy has to go on at least for two years, because this speech specific is really only the visible part of the iceberg and there is a lot to be done and changed!
