I am a student studying communication disorders in the United States. I found your article very touching, interesting and helpful. As a future speech specialist, I often have my focus more on helping the person with the disorder overcome it and perhaps do not pay enough attention to the other issues that he/she might be having, such as being bullied. Generally, bullying in the schools is a big problem here in the States, as well. Teaching coping skills and tips for defusing "attacks" are ideas that I will integrate into my future practice. Most inspirational was how you refered to yourself as your students' protector ("father"). Thank you for your insight and sharing.
