Anita- Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. I am currently a graduate student at NYU, taking a fluency class. We are learning about how stuttering can affect a person's entire life, and your story is proof of that. I was wondering at what age you had enough "years of silence and pretending"?, as you put it. I imagine it was well into adulthood, since you said school was out. In that case, what advice would you have for children so that they can avoid years of hiding themselves and feeling like outcasts among their peers? I think you are a wonderful person for not only conquering your fear of stuttering, but also for giving back to people with that same fear by becoming a teacher.
