Wow, Christina. I'm so thankful for your compliments. Yes, I truly came out stronger and I'm passing the baton to kids and others. To kids I would like to say: go for it. Stuttering is shit, but it's not your fault, so there is no reason to feel ashamed about it or let it rule your life. There are so many things you are good at, so focus on them. Stuttering is not what you ARE, it's simply something you happen to do. Meet other kids who stutter and do fun things together. Talk about your stutter, as it's something not many know anything about. Turn it into something cool. Maybe with help from your SLP to find the right words. If there are more kids who stutter, join hands and talk to your classes as a team. Tell them what YOU want THEM to do to help you. Let them know who you are. As long as you don't talk and not show the real you, others might never find out what a cool person you are to be with. And remember: What you're saying is just as important and interesting as any other person. It just takes more time to get it out. Keep talking! Anita PS. Thanks for caring... We need SLPs like you...
