What an uplifting article! Your are an amazing writer. In the beginning I felt your pain, your rejection, your sadness. In the end I felt your energy, your joy of accomplishment and your spirirt. It sounds to me that you have been through alot and have come a long way. I am currently a graduate student of speech language pathology. I would like to know if there was anything in particular that made you decide to "start talking?" You do not mention in your article if you receivd speech therapy? If you did, which techniques worked and which didn't? Do you think it would have been different if someone else had pushed you to talk, rather than taking on the responsibility to talk all on your own? In other words, if your parents or teachers had pressured you into being more vocal, do you think it would have made the same impact? How do you clients react to your stuttering? I would think a child who stutters, that comes in to see an SLP that stutters would think that it is pretty cool and you would be better able to relate to them. Your spirit and your story put a smile on my face. Kristina
