Hi Shannon. You are so right. The journey was tough and I used all my resources to survive, but today I can look back and see that it made me stronger and ables me to help others. (Not saying I would do it again, though...) I can fully understand why PWS choose silence over speaking. At one point I wished I was mute instead of having a stutter, as I thought that was more accepted and less shameful... But it's not helping. Not to yourself, neither to others. You're denying yourself to expressing yourself and denying others to get to know you. You're too good to not share yourself with others. I know, as I myself chose not to speak, while inside my whole being was screaming, as I'm a very social and outgoing person, locked up in my own cage, constructed and locked by myself. It's the easy way out and maybe a solution for those who are interiour minded. But i wouldn't wish it to my worst enemy... So to all of you, keep talking, no matter how little... You're worth it. Anita From your connections with others through support groups is it common for those who stutter to selectively choose not to speak? Thank you in advance for your comments.
