I am a first year graduate student and have not had any clinical experience with clients who stutter. I really liked your posting for several reasons. First, therapy should be designed on an individual basis, and understanding your clients daily speech and social interactions will help tailor-fit a intervention plan. Second, expanding on children's comments during play, for example, really seems to put the focus back on the child. After all, their input is critical because they are the individual who stutters. Last, I just really liked the tone of your posting because of a client-centered approach. Of course, as professionals, we do what we need to do to elicit the information to develop the most comprehensive and effective intervention as possible. Helping our clients communicate more effectively and efficiently across all communicative environments is our focus!
