Megan, Last night I was thinking about the last statement I wrote in my response when I quoted what I heard at a fluency conference this summer: "it does matter who delivers the treatment". I'm not so sure that this statement doesn't take on an "alienating" tone to therapists who feel a lack of confidence in working with children/people who stutter. I was certainly not confident about stuttering therapy not all that long ago. I continue to have to be careful not to over-compare myself to those who are "more accomplished or more knowledgable" than me in the field of stuttering therapy and speech pathology. Our scope of practice is very wide, and I will forever feel the need to learn, to teach myself, and be taught by people with experience and knowledge. Every time we do this, we are making our treatments matter for our clients.
