I found both of your stories to be moving and inspiring. It is astounding to me that around the world we still judge people’s worth based on how well they speak and even more amazing that we allow ourselves to be deemed worthless because others have a problem with or are uncomfortable with the way we speak. I think that you have demonstrated that the only technique that can result in fluency, or less disfluency, is building confidence and acceptance. It seems that once a person is confident and begins to accept his/her stutter, then he/she can really own the stutter. Confidence is the tool necessary to transfer the control of the stutter to the speaker. Through Parole d’Espoir, you are helping to give control and confidence back to individuals who may have never known what it felt like to be in control of their speech. Even if the end result is not increased fluency when speaking, countless people will still lead richer and happier lives because of your courage, dedication, and willingness to share your experiences. Bien fait.--Vickie
