That is a very good question. I would like to see/hear other specialists' comments on this. The resistant cluttering clients I have seen typically drop out of therapy by themselves. Others indicate interest in changing when they begin to show awareness of their own errors. That is a good pronostyic sign. When I get a client who is angry that they are being forced to come to therapy, and they don't want to. I tell them they can return when they are willing to work and do the homework assigned, but I don't see the benefit of continuing to treat them. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink. Dismiss for now and devote your time and energy to clients who want to come.
