I like this idea of a hierarchy in therapy for tasks that the client and SLP can work together at creating. I was curious about how to handle clients, for example adolescents, who's self-esteem is so low due to their stuttering that they refuse to progress in the accomplishment of the tasks. It was stated that the SLP should tell the client that not accomplishing the task was not a failure, but if the client refuses to keep trying on the other tasks, should we then discontinue the use of the hierarchy program or push a little more?
