Most of what we know about neurogenic stuttering is based on published case studies, reviews of groups of case studies and relatively few systematic group studies of patients. I don't know of any other research group which is currently doing systematic studies of neurogenic stutteirng. There have been no NIH funded studies on this issue. With collegues in Belgium, I'm involved in a large scale study of incidence of neurogenic stuttering in stroke patients and we hope to be able to build on that in the coming years. You are correct that most of our data is on stroke and TBI patients as these appear to be the two groups with the highest incidence of stuttering. I think it is wonderful that you are fascinated by this issue - there is lots to read which will allow you to increase your knowledge, not just of neurogenic stuttering but also of other speech and language disorders. I encourage you to continue your research in this area!
