The research is still ongoing so we will have to wait for the analysis of the data to find out more. However, an interesting observation we have done (and reported - see our article in the most recent issue of the Journal of Medical Speech-Language Pathology) is that stroke patients seem to have more stuttering-like disfluencies during 'easier' speech tasks, such as single words and short sentences, but as the utterances become more comples, they start to show more typical disfluencies, probably reflective of their other language difficulties which become more prominent.
