I was interested in your comments indicating that, especially in patients with severe trauma injuries, acquired stuttering may be overlooked because it is a minor symptom compared with other resulting problems. I think of this as being similar to patients who suffer from aphasia -- because so much energy is put into re-establishing normal life functions following a CVA or other brain injury, the communication problems resulting from aphasia are brushed aside, even though the patient suffers significantly from the loss of former communication abilities. I agree with you (and so many others who have posted in response to your article) that more information about neurogenic stuttering is needed -- urgently.
