At this time, that task may be too difficult for him. You may want to begin with him talking about his stuttering to other people. I like using the "Stuttering Survey Form" in the schools. If you connect to me off line a jjjudithe@msn.com , I can send you the form. This is a beginning way to desensitize. As a SLP, you do some surveys also and use volunteer stuttering. After doing many Surveys and becoming more open about his speech, then he can attempt to ask a question in class. Yes, he will stutter, but his stuttering may be reduced because he will not work so hard to hide his stuttering. Always remember, a person stutters the most when they are trying to hide stuttering.
