Your story is filled with such hope and a wonderful message. I think too often children, not just children who stutter, but all children avoid situations. I don't know how many times when I was in school I avoided certain situations because I was scared of what might happen or what my peers would think or say. In your situation you were forced to push past the avoidance and you "stuttered, survived, and felt GOOD." In your case your result was more fluency, but you would have never known that had you kept avoiding. I feel the longer someone avoids situations the longer that thing has control over them. So, like you said, "Avoid Avoiding." It may be scary those first couple times, but you will "survive" and then it will feel great.
