Hi Jamie, A good place to start is to come right out and tell a CWS, that it's not his/her fault that they stutter. IT'S JUST SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS. Please send me an email at jjjudithe@msn.com and I will send you the Stuttering Survey. Both you and your student use this Survey in School. When you do it, add some voluntary stuttering infront of the CWS. As a CWS begins to talk about stuttering, often the Avoidance Behaviors are reduced. Children beginning at about age 7 love to do the Survey. Keep your CWS talking everywhere with pragmatic appropriateness. That is the main goal for a child who stutters---say what they want, where they want, and when they want with social appropriateness.
