Hi, Change happens in small steps. You need to have the child/client begin to talk about stuttering. A good tool is the Stuttering Survey. Please send me an email at jjjudithe@msn.com and I will send the Survey to you. You and the client can do the Survey and you can use voluntary stuttering. The more a PWS reduces their SHAME of stuttering, the less avoidance behaviors are needed and they begin to fall away. Later you can choose specific useful situations where avoidance is minimized and communication is accomplished with some stuttering.
