Thanks Cristina for the warm comments :) To answer your questions: What triggered my desire to be an SLP? In my sophomore year in college, I was discriminated against due to my stuttering and the person at the University who helped me out was Dr. Peter Ramig - an SLP who specializes in stuttering who also stutters. That just opened my eyes to a whole different way to go. I started therapy with Peter and enrolled in Communication Disorders classes my junior year and never looked back. I thought, at first, that my stuttering would make me a more effective SLP and, even though I ran across a professor in my Speech Path grad program who thought the exact opposite - I still hold to that belief.
