Hello- Thanks, Ken, for providing that interesting update on your study. While in Burkina Faso, I didn't get to explore attitudes about etiology to the extent I would have liked. Moussa did write something (for an IFA newsletter, perhaps?) about attitutes in Burkina Faso that seemed consistent with what you found in Camaroon. In general, my impression is that there is a mix of folk and more "modern" beliefs about etiology. Not surprisingly, persons who reside in the more remote parts of the country tend to ascribe cause to folk beliefs like the ones you describe. Residents of the capital city, who have more exposure to the internet, newspapers, etc. are more likely to view stuttering as a "medical" condition. Do you suppose the same trends are apparent in Camaroon? Sue
