Hi Ashley, Thank you for reading the paper. I fell into lecturing without any previous plans to do so! As I have always very strongly felt....fluency does not equate to good communication. Fortunately my CV was OK which got me the job interview in the first place. I also was very honest about my speech from the onset....although when I spoke to the head of the Physiotherapy Dept/faculty on the phone it was obvious that I was a PWS. As regards overcoming my fear ...just do it, take the risks and become a stronger person for it! Having said that, I have a mild stutter/covert....which has improved greatly with time and exposure out of the comfort zone. Regards, |Rob Comments Hi! I am a student at The College of Saint Rose studying to become an SLP. After reading your article I was wondering what made you initially made you want to become a lecturer at a University? Did you ever doubt your decision because of stuttering? And if so how did you overcome your fears?
