Stuttering is one of the hardest disorders to treat. It involves speech dysfunction, social phobia and speech phobia, perhaps purely neurological causes as well. This is why, as you say – its treatment has to be multidimensional – on praxis level, on psychological and social interaction levels. As I have said many times to my friends – it is easier to cure cancer than stammering… unfortunately! But, I am optimist – stuttering is like a little grain of sand in the mind of the stutterer and makes hom to search and explore himself. 
