Charles, As a pws of long standing it seems to me CALMS is a very welcome addition to therapy perspectives. However in the spirit of Principle 7 (never too old..) let me make the observation that the value of CALMS would be made more obvious if a term was used to distinguish the Disorder of stuttering from what is generally understood as stuttering Behaviour. Through the International Stuttering Association I am proposing use of the term Stuttered Speech Syndrome. (New members to the "band waggon" are very welcome!) It seems both you and Gunars are advocating psychological intervention for the stuttering disorder (Stuttered Speech Syndrome) while pointing out that conventional speech therapy (concentration on change of stuttering behaviour) is largely ineffective. Given this perspective do you believe speech pathologists are the best profession to treat pws? Your article didn't mention referral to psychologists/psychiatrists or referral to self-help groups. Could referral be regarded as an 8th principle? Congratulations on a well written article, Mark
