Hi Russ, You wrote: "People tend to "mirror" your own feeling towards your speech. If YOU are uncomfortable, then THEY are going to be uncomfortable. If you're at ease, they feel at ease." You are SO right! The world is like a mirror - it reflects back to us what we show it. I frequently accompany other PWS out onto the streets to help them challenge themselves by speaking to total strangers. When I demonstrate the use of voluntary/pseudo stuttering, I do it with dignity. I look the listener straight in the eye and ask for directions, or the time etc. Their reaction is always positive because they can see that I am at ease with my speech. If I do not maintain eye contact, or I appear apologetic or embarrassed, then they feel uncomfortable. Thank you for sharing. Kindest regards Alan
