Kathy, welcome to the discussion. I can't say for sure if the outcome would have been different had I reacted differently. My understanding is is that neurogenic stuttering is often transitory. I suspect that the course and duration may be strongly related to the type and severity of the brain injury. The pws who was the subject of the case study I had completed just before my own hemorrhagic stroke had a different etiology; he had been a pws for a couple of decades. I think that knowing how to attempt self-therapy was quite an advantage, especially since my stuttering episodes came "out of the blue", and they were difficult to try to record. BH
