Sarah, I hope that your relative recovers well. Regarding listener reactions, I helped shape my listeners' reactions by explaining to them what they were hearing. They were usually very interested to learn about stuttering and neurogenic stuttering. I have never thought of stuttering as mentally debilitating. It is important to work on our clients' feelings and attitudes toward speech and stuttering, as well as working on improving fluency. I knew that it was important to work toward having healthy feelings and attitudes toward my own stuttring. Thank you for your good wishes.
