Jessica, If I had needed help I certainly would have sought it. I am lucky to work with three other experts in the area of stuttering: Dr.Eugene Cooper, Mrs. Crystal Cooper, and Dr. Rachel Williams. If I had needed help, I would have asked for and received it. You asked if people who knew me before my brain aneurysm bleed reacted. They reacted positively because I explained to them what was happening. I used my dysfluencies as teaching opportunities. I find that if one is accepting of one's own condition, it helps others to be open and accepting as well. You asked if neurogenic stuttering has a tendency to come back. I know of cases of neurogenic stuttering that have remained, and cases like mine that have shown improved fluency. I do not know of cases where fluency has improved and then worsened again later, but it could happen, I suppose. The course of the condition may depend in part on the specifics of the etiology. BH
