The fluency shaping strategies that were helpful to me have been helpful to others before my hospitalization and after my return to work. I will continue to offer stuttering modification strategies to those who may benefit. Not everyone benefits equally from the same techniques. I always tailor my treatment approach to the individual client. When I was engaged in self-treatment, I did the same ... I tailored my treatment approach to my client: me. BH Did you find, when you are singing, stuttering did not occur? I have been told, some SLP's rely on "singing" therapy as a restructuring method, did you witness that during your recovery? It is common for stuttering to be absent when singing. In my case, because of my intubation, my left vocal cord was partially paralyzed and I could not sing. I have been in voice therapy with my colleague, Dr. Helene Fisher, and my vocal range has so far increased to slightly more than an octave -- so I have regained about half of the vocal range I used to have. I am only now beginning to (carefully and gently) try singing. I have not noticed stuttering when I sing, and I do not expect it to occur. BH BH
