Gianna, I don't think that knowing the etiology of my stuttering problem made it easier to overcome it. We do not talk about overcoming stuttering. We talk about controlling stuttering. No matter what the etiology, the techniques for controlling stuttering are the same. I certainly had an easier time controlling my stuttering than others without my background. I was the only client I have ever had who knew immediately what to do to control his stuttering! :) BH
