My name is Nicole and I am a graduate student at Kean University, Union NJ in the Speech Pathology program. I found this article to be very interesting. It is true you typically would not think that there is a connection between war and stuttering. However, it does make sense that such a violent situation would exaggerate mild stuttering into severe. A traumatic experience like war effects an idividual in many ways-physically, psychologically, emotionally and for some it may effect their ability to speak fluently. This really relates to the theory of capacities and demands-how the demands have outweighed the individuals capacities in this case. I really enjoyed reading the article-Thank you for sharing this information.
