Hi Heather. That's a really good question. To me, success is being able to talk to anyone that I want to at any time, without worrying about my stuttering or having my stuttering be an issue in the conversation. If I can do my job, make phone calls, chit-chat with strangers, order food in a restaurant, read bed-time stories to my kids, and my stuttering does not interfere with any of that, then it is successful. Frequency of stuttering really has nothing to do with that... I did have some experiences over the summer when my stuttering was really increasing, and I had some really (really!!) long moments of stuttering, that interfered with the conversation, and upset me. My stuttering lasted a long time and was filled with tension and struggle. To me, it's the duration of stuttering and the tension that really turn stuttering from a minor nuisance into a disorder. Take care, and say hi to Lee Caggiano for me!! Joe
