Hi Belinda. Thanks for your kind words. You asked if it is important to take stuttering therapy outside the therapy room. The answer is, absolutely!! Once a client is able to properly demonstrate a technique in the therapy room, it's time to take it outside. And it's very important for the clinician to be able to demonstrate this FIRST. So you would go outside with your client, and you would do whatever you wanted the client to do with the first person you see. Then, you can go back to the therapy room, talk about it, and then it's the client's turn. Whether you are working on slow rate, easy onset, voluntary stuttering, pacing, cancellations, pullouts, whatever it is, the clinician needs to demonstrate it outside of therapy and the client needs to, as well. I hope this answers your question. Take care, Joe.
