Hi Laurie. Thank you for your kind words. Wow, lots of good questions. The questions about my therapist have already been answered in the posts above. I encourage you to read those. You also asked a great question about the stuttering community. There is something very powerful about meeting others who are on a path that is similar to your own. Just knowing that others are struggling with the same things that you are, and are still successful, is huge. I have met doctors, lawyers, salespeople, etc., who are very successful, and stutter. That was important for me. Just knowing that I was not alone was also very important. I wasn't as crazy as I thought... Finally, you asked if having a positive attitude toward stuttering is the most important factor in successfully dealing with stuttering. That's a good question. I think you are on the right track, although I know many people who do not have a positive attitude about their stuttering and yet do very well. I think that having a positive attitude toward yourself and your ability to change and grow is even more important than your attitude about your stuttering, per se. Accepting the fact that you stutter does not necessarily mean that you like it. Stuttering is very frustrating, and for some, has altered their lives in very negative ways. So I think that having a positive attitude about yourself is the most important factor. Take care, and I wish you much success in your education. Joe
