Hi Joe, I just wanted to tell you that the image of being lost in the woods was really powerful. I think the idea of looking at life and trying to decipher if this is a new place or a strangely familiar place really speaks out of your efforts in relating to the human condition. As a graduate student, I am concerned about my role as a future speech-language pathologist in the lives of PWS. More specifically, I am concerned about how I may impact children who are developing or have developed a self-awareness of their stuttering and themselves as communicators. What sort of images or memories do you feel you hold in your mind, heart, soul of those therapists you interacted with when you were a child? You have mentioned that you feel that, in therapy for stuttering, timing is an important factor. What factors of your childhood do you feel impacted or impeded your progress in your fluency intervention? What recommendations do you have for therapists working with children? How do you think we can help them so they don't get to a point of being "lost in the stuttering woods"? Thanks for sharing your beautiful entry.
