Hi Suzanne. Thanks for the kind words, and thank you for stating something very important: stuttering is not very different from lots of other things: learning disabilities, dyslexia, tourettes, and other differences, whether they are ethnic, religious, sexual identity, whatever. Stuttering is very much a human condition. Too many people view it as being very different from other things, and that others have no idea what it is like to stutter, but that is simply not true. And, yes, there was a lot of anxiety around the idea of "coming out" as a person who stuttered, and there is still a little bit when I do it now. And that's okay. It's funny how so many things get easier as you get older. When you are a teenager, everything seems to be hugely important. As you get older, you start to understand what is truly important, and being a mild to moderate stutterer just isn't that important... Take care, Joe.
