Hi Alicia, thank you for your kind words. There is no one circumstance, but many. First, in my early twenties, I was a severe stutterer with a degree in philosophy, who therefore had very limited job opportunities. If that isn't motivation, I don't know what is. I also found a therapist whose personality and style of therapy very much in tune with my own personality and what I was looking for in a therapist. He was also a very good, knowledgable therapist, with lots of experience working with people who stutter... he also got me involved in support organizations for people who stutter, which was huge.
