Hi Richelle. Thank you for your kind words. That's a good question, because many PWS are obviously male, and I think it's difficult for everyone to ask for help, but especially for boys and men. It honestly took me a really long time for me to accept the idea that stuttering was too difficult for me alone to battle. There's a bit of Alcoholics Anonymous in good stuttering therapy, I think -- admitting that you are powerless against the problem. Stuttering is very variable, and it takes a while for changes to begin working, and only through a strong support network can you continue the journey forward... so it really wasn't until I was in my 20s when I began to get that I couldn't do this by myself, and that I needed help from lots of people. It was almost like until I started going to the NSA support meeting many times did I truly GET what they were about, and get how important they are. One thing that I love is to be in contact with other SLPs who stutter. Again, for me, just a great way to connect with people who are sharing my journey, and to help keep me in a good place regarding my stuttering. Take care, Richelle. See you soon! Joe
