Jim, I have not personally experienced stuttering but can definately relate to the idea that hindsight is always 20:20. I am a graduate student in the speech-language pathology program at Western Carolina University in N.C. and I've found myself learning from my mistakes more often than not. The experience of moving to a new place, getting back into the mind set of school again, and meeting new people has forced me to re-evaluate who I am and who I used to be. I find myself wishing that I would have done things differently one day, one week, one month, and even one year ago. However, reading your article has reminded me to acknowledge but not regret my past decisions. Before reading this article I was uptight and pretty hard on myself as a person and as a student clinician. After reading your article I have decided that I'm cutting myself some slack because I know that I am doing my best. I have decided to learn through experience and developing maturity to be confident in my capabilities so, ... THANK YOU!
