Lynne, thus, it goes along with Wendell Johnson’s General Semantics idea of “person first”: I am a person who stutters. Nothing is wrong with my existential, essential self; yet I am doing something (that in most probability can be altered) that I do not like. Shame attacks person; regret dislikes action.
