Alan, I hope to meet you sometime. I have enjoyed your story and hope everyone reads your presentation here under message for teens. We may not agree on everything, but I believe we are truly courageous veterans. :-) Yes, I believe giving myself a pat on the back. I hope that everyone learns to be their own best friend and every night goes over three specific courageous attempts at change. I also hope everyone gives themselves encouragement with rational self-talk. Only in that way can we self-actualize ourselves. We really benefit from being our own best friends, unconditionally accepting ourselves, while working on our attitudes, emotions, struggling, and behaviors (see the last exchange of experts about bounces). And let us keep advocating for all of us who are persons who stutter. Cheers. :-)
