I think there is some value in having a standardized curriculum across the United States in the area of speech-language pathology. However, I believe this may be a challenge due to the differences in theoretical preferences and the focus of intervention among the experts in the field. Regarding your second question, I think it is critical that a fluency course encompass both theory and clinical application in order to promote the concept of a well-rounded clinician. Your clinical work is more focused when you are driven by an underlying theory.
