Hello Lindsey! Due to the expanding roles and responsibilities of SLPs, I think ASHA is attempting to expose students to a variety of courses. As a result, some courses are combined to provide time for other areas of study (e.g., dysarthria). At UW-Stevens Point, our program only offers one fluency disorders course. However, there are other opportunities to gain experience and knowledge in the area of fluency disorders. These opportunities include participating in the ISAD Online Conference, fluency support groups, researching the literature, and obtaining practicum hours with clients with fluency disorders. If you wish to have the opportunity to participate in more fluency courses, you could speak with the dean of your department or search for online courses. I hope I addressed your question.
