Hello! I am a graduate student/clinician at West Virginia University, and participation in the conference is also a requirement for our stuttering class taught by Ken St. Louis. Although admittedly initially having mixed feelings about the assignment, I think that it is not only a great opportunity for us as students to learn from and interact with other professionals and PWS, but to also learn to use and become comfortable with such forums and conferences. As practicing speech-language pathologists, we will need to be able to access such resources. I think this is especially important in the area of stuttering, which can be a difficult subject to talk about and treat, for clinicians, parents, and PWS alike. I also think this conference is a great resource to make sure parents of children who stutter are made aware of, as they often need someone to talk to who understands, and support groups can be difficult to find.
