Heidi; I am a documentary film maker and some years back I went on a cross-Canada tour with my work. In each city I was expected to do media interviews. Doing print interviews wasn't a problem, but my stuttering spooked a lot of TV and radio interviewers. They had no clue as to what to do with me. Some interviews were cancelled, others were done but weren't aired while others had most of my stuttered parts edited out with only the fluent bits left in. It seemed not to matter what I said as long as I didn't stutter. It was after these experiences that I decided that I would do a film on stuttering with the hope that I could help dispel the stigma and ignorance that surrounds stuttering.
