Hi Elisa. There are no speech pathology programs offered at the universities where I live. The speech therapists that I met in my city knew less about stuttering than I did. Other centres in Canada eg in Edmonton and Toronto have good therapy programs but, unfortunateley, that is not the situation here in Winnipeg. What I look for in a speech therapist is the same thing that I would look for in any health professional ie knowledge, education, experience and expertise in treating the condition. The trait that puts me off the most is a dismal knowledge of the nature and treatment of stuttering. There are good therapists out there and many that are not. Buyer beware.
