Megan; You raise an important point. At different times in our lives we find ourselves in different circumstances and with different resources. We all try to handle the challenges of school, employment and family in our own way and in our own time. Dealing with stuttering is no different. Some tackle their stuttering when they are young, others when they are older and some not at all. Everyone has their own reasons. You are correct when you say that change can only happen when the person is ready and willing to work for change. The therapist can act as a resource and guide, but the person who stutters must be ready and willing to do the heavy lifting.
